Foraging Mushrooms on Whidbey Island

$255.00

June 3rd, 2024
1pm - 9pm
Learn how to forage for mushrooms on Whidbey Island.**

Spring is certainly a vibrant and robust mushroom season and we want to celebrate it in style. We’ve hired a Whidbey native who has been studying mycology for 15+ years to lead a three-hour guided mushroom forage. We’ll travel into the woods and try to stumble across the elusive patch of mushrooms.

Our guide will teach us so much more than simply mushroom foraging. You will also learn to identify various trees and shrubs which is an important component to mushroom foraging and identification. You will learn about the various edible, medicinal, and useful plants that are native to the PNW and we often come across other interesting organisms along the way as well, like slime molds or cool insects. You will also learn things like how to cook, use, and store your harvest. Responsible harvesting practices. Plant or wildlife indicators/clues. And many other fun facts about the forest.

After the tour concludes we’ll close our event by sharing a meal together at a private dining room. We’ll share good food and great tunes. The whole menu will focus on foraged foods from the PNW. Menu arriving soon
